Having been born and raised in The Bahamas, one of the most valuable things I was given by my parents was an appreciation for the sea, in particular for the wonderful treasures it deposits upon our beaches.

My mother was, and still is, a quintessential island girl and my father an avid collector of things; collecting from nature fulfills me in a way few other things do.

My work remains a constant reminder of the beauty that is reborn out of brokenness and abandonment.

“If it is true that what you do is born out of who you are then it is only natural that I would be fascinated by items once discarded that have been refined by the elements and time.”

Beginning her trek into the world of the arts with sea glass and sea slate work, Samantha was simultaneously pursuing another passion  Something’s Different, a designer cookie and cake boutique.

Located in the heart of Nassau’s busy Palmdale business district both she and her husband Ian pursue cake and cookie decorating fulltime.

One of the most interesting twists in what seemed a solo journey was

having my husband

join me.

What I was capable of

doing by myself has

been exponentially

increased and

embellished in ways I

never dreamt.
